Brain-based Accelerated Learning
Royce International’s Brain-based Accelerated Learning
Programs are designed to provide one of the most crucial subjects schools do not teach - the Science of Learning How to Learn.
Our Brain-based Accelerated Learning Programs are designed within a Holistic Learning Perspective and a Diagnostic-Treatment Framework. Developed from scientific research, the essence of Brain-based Accelerated Learning within a Holistic Learning Perspective sees an individual’s cognition in relation to other systems (e.g. physiological, social, emotional
and environmental systems) as interdependent and which constitute a whole. We also see each learner as having a unique learner’s profile which can be measured using scientifically validated psychological profiling tests. It follows that, to maximize a learner’s performance, a Diagnostic-Treatment Framework whereby learning solutions are customized and which considers an individual’s cognition from a Holistic Learning Perspective is of utmost importance as specific learning strategies, techniques and practical applications taught produce the maximum results when these are considered.
Contents are also distilled from vast research done by highly noted researchers including 2000 Nobel Prize winner Eric Kandel’s findings on learning and memory. Research is gleaned from wide-ranging fields such as neuroscience, cognitive psychology, organizational psychology, human physiology and biology of optimum performance.
All programs have been designed to incorporate pivotal information about the brain: how it learns, how it processes, interprets, stores information and most pertinently, how it can be enriched to produce optimal performance. The ground-breaking and revolutionary Theory of Suggestopedia by the leading figure and forefather of
Accelerated Learning, Georgi Lozanov, continues to inspire and influence our work. In addition, one of the world’s foremost Neuroscientists in UC Berkeley, Dr. Marian Diamond, has generated work on Enrichment and Plasticity (1998) that is fundamentally important to all our
programs' content design. Much of Renate Nummela’s (Professor Emeritus of Education & Executive Director of the Center for Research in Integrative Learning and Teaching) and Geoffrey Caine’s (Past National Director of the Mind/Brain Network of the American Society for Training and Development, Current Education Consultant & Process Coach specializing in Brain/Mind Learning) comprehensive treasure trove: 12 Brain/Mind Learning Principles in Action (2004), Harvard Psychologist Howard Gardner’s profoundly influential Multiple Intelligences Theory (1983) and Dunn and Dunn’s Learning Styles Inventory (1984) have
all been infused into our teaching methodologies. John Grinder and Richard Bandler, co-founders of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, have been a great resource in furnishing a practical curriculum for structuring active positive engagement, peak performance, excellent communications, teamwork and motivation. The
programs' blueprint also owes much to thought leaders and renowned researchers, namely, Gordon Dryden and Dr. Jeannette Vos of Learning Revolution (1999), Eric Jensen of Brain-based Learning (2000) and Enriching the Brain: How to Maximize Every Learner's Potential (2006) and Geil Browning’s Emergenetics (2005).
Experiential Learning
“Just as the world learns by experience, so do learners.
Mere memory is not enough: learners have to act as well as read,
to solve everyday problems as if school were society in miniature.”
John Dewey
US Philosopher, Educational Reformer & Psychologist
These indoor and outdoor Experiential Learning
Programs owe a great deal to the work of Dr. David Kolb (American Educational Theorist, Founder and Chairman of Experience Based Learning Systems) and Dr. Kurt Lewin (Seminal Theorist & Pioneer of Social Psychology) and many others on Experiential Learning. The advent of clinical psychologist, Claude Steiner’s Emotional Literacy: Intelligence with a heart, gives further support of our careful orchestration of positive, conducive, supportive and challenging environments for learning.
Subject-focused Experiential Learning Programs available include any one or more of the following content areas: Natural and Physical Sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Nutrition Science, Resource Conservation), Business (Social Enterprises, Multicultural Communication Skills, Responsible Tourism) and Arts & Humanities (Geography, Performing Arts, Literature, Art, History). The list of content areas is non-exhaustive and Royce International offers customized
programs specific to each individual group’s learning needs, the learners’ unique learning styles and budget. Specific content areas and itineraries can also be customized.

In particular, a unique feature of our Experiential Learning
Programs is the incorporation of a variety of process skills such as higher order thinking skills, communication and presentation skills, teambuilding and leadership skills, and skills allowing students to explore their IT, aesthetics and creative abilities. Elements of Career-Focused Learning, Global Experience Series, Service Learning and Accelerated Learning may be incorporated where appropriate.
Career-focused Learning

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
American United Nations Diplomat, Humanitarian and
First Lady, wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the USA
Royce International’s Career-focused Learning
Programs are based on Stephen Covey’s principle “Beginning with the end in mind” which when followed, leads to a more productive and fulfilling life. Many have learnt by trial and error, many have learnt too little, too late.
This series of
programs is intended to shine a ray of light on the path ahead of youths.
The formula to career success has always been known to only a privileged minority. No doubt, some succeed by luck, others succeed by will. Most lose their way and settle for second. Perhaps the most important secret to success in this fast-changing world we live in, is that the formula of success is not a static one. It is a dynamic one.
Our Career-focused Learning Series is unique as it comprises the following 6 major components:
-
Knowledge of Self*
-
Knowledge of the World: Historical and Global Trends
(Economies, Industries, Job Markets, Societal Change & Impact)
-
Knowledge of “The Changing Concept of Best-Fit”
-
Skills for Trend Analysis and Knowledge-based Decision Making
-
Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes and Strategies for Career Entry & Advancement
-
6Q Series
Quotient-Proficiency Development for Ultimate Holistic Personal Success*
*Involves use of scientifically validated psychological instruments

Equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to excel, youths learn to set well-thought goals, anticipate challenges and derive alternative solutions to tackle them. They are empowered to take charge, review and evaluate their goals as they work towards achieving them.
The programs serve to enhance students’ learning motivation as they now can concretize the link between school and their future. The
programs also serve to fill students’ knowledge gaps as they get in touch with the tools, learning technologies, methodologies and fast-evolving changes in the research fields and industries such as organizational psychology, human resource consultancy, optimum performance and career coaching.
Global Experience

“The knowledge of the world is only to be acquired in the world, and not in a closet.”
Lord Philip Dormer Stanhope Chesterfield
4th Earl of Chesterfield, British statesman & Man of letters
It seems that the unstoppable momentum of our
ever-changing world has left us with two choices. One has the choice of waiting for the world to come to you unprepared or preparing yourself in advance. We choose the latter and offer a safe and enlightening preview of the world.
Our Global Experience Series encompasses an array of innovative and exciting
programs that span the globe. Each program is carefully structured to include Pre-trip and Post-trip Courses that truly maximize the individual’s overseas learning experience. Pre-trip Courses equip learners with the necessary higher order thinking skills, process skills
(including observation and questioning skills), knowledge, research areas and attitudes needed to reap the most of their overseas experience. Using a variety of techniques, tools and methodologies, learners are trained to perceptively investigate issues from various sectors, industries, angles, micro- and macro- perspectives, disciplines and schools of thought.
More crucially, Post-trip Courses provide learners with an evaluation of their learning, the opportunity for reflection and
the consolidation of meaningful learning. In addition, learning strategies from Experiential Learning and Brain-based Accelerated Learning are integrated into the overall
program. Incorporating elements from Career-focused Learning and Service Learning, our Global Experience
Programs come with the following optional components:
-
Royce International “Global Experience Passport”
-
Sample Model Resume
-
Global Leadership Program
Together, Royce Global Experience Series helps to enhance learning motivation, give learners a practical hands-on experiential learning opportunity to expand their horizons, enrich their life experiences, enhance their multi-cultural communication skills, nurture their sensitivity and tolerance towards cultural differences, develop an appreciation for and see the value of diversity, gain multiple perspectives in global issues, sharpen their maturity of thought and decision making abilities, build their confidence, emotional and social intelligence banks and so much more - in measurable ways and countless more immeasurable ones…

Service Learning

"Nothing brings me more happiness than trying to help the most vulnerable people in
society. It is a goal and an essential part of my life - a kind of destiny.”
Lady Diana Spencer
Princess of Wales
Recent research funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) of UK has revealed that people who live in areas that record high levels of voluntary activity in their
neighborhood, enjoy better health and students achieve higher GCSE grades. Professor Paul Whiteley,
Program Director of the ESRC Democracy & Participation Research
Program explains "The research has revealed an interesting link between helping others and enjoying a good quality of life. It seems that when we focus on the needs of others, we also reap benefits ourselves. It means that voluntarism is associated with increased happiness, reduced stress, better health, lower crime, improved educational performance and greater life satisfaction.”
Dr. Martin Seligman, current empirical researcher of Positive Psychology shares that one of the areas of people’s lives that contribute to increased feelings of happiness and satisfaction with life has to do with "knowing what your highest strengths are and deploying those in the service of something you believe is larger than you are." Seligman says that "meaning consists in attachment to something bigger than you are. The self is not a very good site for meaning and the larger the thing that you can credibly attach yourself to, the more meaning you get out of life."
Whatever the nature of our contributions to worldly positivism, even the smallest endeavors can spread cheer and optimism among
the less privileged individuals. It is our hope to inspire and encourage all students to give in to generous and compassionate impulses, in so doing, we are acting as part of a larger movement to improve the world. From the smallest charitable service learning project to the largest worldwide mission of kindness, all efforts do more than simply work against the tide of suffering that threatens to overtake humanity as a whole. Those whose lives we touch, however briefly, will more than likely go on to touch the lives of others. We can then take pride in the fact that we have taken effective steps to spread compassion among our fellow humans. As one satisfies our desire to act charitably today, one becomes part of the change one wishes to see.
Royce International’s Service Learning
Programs are designed to include a double bottom line:
Our Service Learning Programs incorporate learning components from Career-focused Learning
and the Global Experience Series. Elements from Experiential Learning and Accelerated Learning
are also integrated into the program design. Uniquely, this
structured program develops learners’ empathic ability, global
perspective, maturity of thought, creative problem solving ability,
the ability to assess issues critically, laterally and analytically,
as well as, hones an understanding of resources, the lack of
resources and their respective impacts. The learning of the
above-mentioned content areas is achieved through learning from first hand experience as they undergo a structured
program of learning modules carefully designed to maximize their learning from their interaction with the community and the real-life issues they are presented with.
